In Short-Deck Hold’em the standard 52-card deck that is used in all poker games is culled down to 36 cards by removing all deuces, treys, fours and fives. Short-Deck Poker is also known as Six Plus Poker because the lowest card in the deck is the six. The game can be played with anywhere from 2-10 players but is usually played with six players. No-Limit Hold’em has been all the rage for many years, but Short Deck Hold’em (also known as Six-Plus Holdem) is gaining a lot in momentum and is one of the most promising games. It owes a lot of its popularity to live high stakes cash games that are being played and broadcasted during Triton Series events. Playing short deck Hold’em makes it easier to hit a set than when playing the regular game. Short deck players holding a pocket pair have 2 cards remaining from the 34 to give them a set as opposed to 2 cards out of 50 in the regular game. Short Deck Hold’em strategy.

Poker Variants[edit]
The Triton Series focusses on two main variants of Poker, No-limit Texas Hold’em and Short-deck.
Short-Deck first appeared in the high stakes live cash games in Asia, after regulars removed the 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s [4] to increase the likelihood of being dealt premium hands.
Short-Deck, also known as ‘Triton Hold'em' and Six-plus hold 'em is a game played with a 36-card deck.
The hand rankings are similar to standard No-Limit Hold'em with the exception that a Flush beats a Full House.[5]
The other significant change is that an ace also doubles up as a five, making a hand like ace, 6, 7, 8 and 9 a straight.
